Great days flying!

Well thankfully the wind had all but died off by this morning and I knew it was going to be a fun day. I had three flights line up in all, a mixture of fun and hard work laid aheadl!!

First up was my final EMT lesson with Rolf in the Grob, a plane that i`ve really come to like a lot. Not just because it handles very smoothly but because all the knobs and whistles are in the right place and i like that a lot! As well as him putting the plane into extreme unusual attitudes and asking me to get us back to straight and level, we also did some fun stuff like loops and aileron rolls, and then linked the two manoevures together...which was cool.

Next up was my Biannual Flight Review (BFR) in the Cessna we are going to hire. This is a mini checkride with an FAA examiner and consists of an hours flight and an hours oral exam. I was dreading this as although its badged as a "review" you can still fail these and then i wouldn`t be able to rent a plane!! Anyway, it went okay, the flight exercises were very good, the PFL aced for a change, the landings okay, although one was mega bumpy and had a go around as well! But all in all not too bad. I shared the oral part with Clay, but in truth it was just going over airpsace and regulations etc etc!

That was the preamble to the main event. A blast in the Pitts Special, a 260Hp bullet if every there was one! Its a truly awesome machine and fantastic at aerobatics. I got the full repertoire, consisting of loops, rolls, inverted flight, inverted spins, tailslides, hammerheads, double-hammerheads, cubans and snap rolls to name a few ( apologies in advanced for the youtube content!!). We managed 5 positive G and 2 negative in total...which was some going and the stomach didnt even flinch!! Definately this is the plane for me!!

So we have done with the aero`s for the time being and have planned to take off direct for Vegas on Wednesday after some planning tomorrow, as Reno is in icing conditions just now........next stop the rollercoasters of Vegas, but they`ll be a bit tame compared to the power of the Pitts!

Great news Bro! Sounds like a brilliant day and one worth waiting for. I'll check the vids out in a bit.

Also congrats on passing the review and being able to rent the plane.

As for the Pitts, well Dad said that they are the planes which dogfight over the Pacific here, most weekends. So if it's the plane for you I'm sure you can have more of the same when you come down here (I thought they were Tigermoths but what do I know!).

Just watched the videos with the folks. Great work, they look fantastic.

Mum is feeling sick and concerned about the beeping coming from the cockpit!

That must've been one of the best flights ever!

You are SO LUCKY! There'll be a Pitts Python here for the airshow, should be good fun :-)

Yup, start Sept. 1st, handed in my resignation to the boss today. :-)
